HISTORY

Norfolk Education Foundation was established in 2002 to serve as the fundraising arm for the Norfolk Public Schools. The Foundation maintained a relatively passive role over the next four years until it was revitalized in 2006 under the instrumental leadership of former NPS Superintendent Stephen Jones. The Foundation continued to grow under the leadership of its first three board chairs; Kenneth Newman, Carlos Clanton and Lisa Chandler.

Today, the Norfolk Education Foundation plays a key role in securing private funds that enable the district to successfully implement initiatives that help drive student achievement. The Norfolk Education Foundation will continue to work with current NPS Superintendent Richard Bentley to continue to drive community investment back into our public schools.

The Norfolk Education Foundation board of directors consists of some of Norfolk’s key business and community leaders. All are deeply committed to driving community investment in the educational priorities of the district and raising student achievement.
